Custom Muffle Furnaces

Since 1998, Sentro Tech has engineered custom muffle furnaces for processes that don’t fit a standard catalog unit. Our engineers design the furnace to suit your chamber size and temperature range instead of asking you to adapt to a stock configuration. Every custom build is manufactured at our Ohio facility.

Custom Muffle Furnace Specs Built Around Your Process

A custom muffle furnace from Sentro Tech isn’t a stock box furnace with a different label. We adjust chamber dimensions and heating element layout to match how the unit will run in your facility. Standard chamber sizes on our muffle line run from 6″ x 6″ x 6″ up to 36″ x 36″ x 36″, and a custom order can move outside that range when your application calls for it. Door configuration is flexible, too: swing-style, vertical lift, or bottom-loading, depending on your floor space and loading process.

Temperature ceiling is rarely the constraint on a high-temperature custom muffle furnace. Our muffle platform is engineered across five operating temperatures:

  • 1200°C (2190°F)
  • 1500°C (2730°F)
  • 1600°C (2910°F)
  • 1700°C (3090°F)
  • 1800°C (3270°F)

Every unit ships with a 30-segment programmable PID controller for repeatable heating and cooling profiles, run after run. Where your application demands tight uniformity, we engineer the chamber to hold roughly ±5°C, with fan-assisted air circulation available to tighten that to ±2°C.

Handling What a Lab or Production Floor Needs

Energy cost per cycle adds up fast on high-temperature muffle furnaces that run long dwell times. Our ceramic fiber board lining and double-shell design keep heat in the chamber instead of leaking into the room, lowering energy waste and keeping the outer shell cooler for anyone working near it.

Safety is designed into the build. An automatic shut-off feature cuts power if the furnace is opened or a fault is detected. For facilities that require it, we build to UL- and CSA-certified electrical standards so your unit clears inspection without a fight.

Every custom muffle furnace carries a one-year limited warranty on electronic parts, and our platinum/rhodium thermocouples and heating elements are built for a long service life under normal operating conditions.

Trusted in Demanding Applications

Custom muffle furnaces from Sentro Tech go to work in:

  • Annealing, ashing, and calcining
  • Heat treatment in metallurgy and materials science
  • Material testing and sample preparation
  • Quality control in scientific and industrial settings
  • Firing and calcination in ceramics and glass manufacturing
  • Ash testing in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology
  • Moisture analysis in food and beverage testing
  • Dental laboratory applications

Names like 3M, NASA, GE, and Dow Corning have put Sentro Tech equipment to work in their facilities.

How the Custom Muffle Furnace Process Works

Building a custom muffle furnace keeps you involved at every step:

  1. It starts with a conversation with our engineers about your chamber size, temperature range, and process requirements.
  2. We recommend an approach and send a design mock-up for your review and approval.
  3. Once your furnace is built, we invite you to our Ohio headquarters to inspect and test it, and to train your technicians before it ships.
  4. After delivery, we stay on for maintenance guidance, replacement parts, and service through the life of the furnace.

Custom Muffle Furnace FAQs

How much longer does a custom muffle furnace take compared to a standard model?

Standard muffle furnace configurations are stocked for quick delivery. A custom build takes longer because it moves through engineering and design approval before fabrication starts. Send us your chamber size and temperature requirements, and we’ll scope a timeline against our current build schedule.

How do you determine the right chamber size for my application?

Chamber size comes down to what you’re loading and how much of it at once, not just the part dimensions. We look at your sample or load size and the clearance you need around it for even heating, then size the chamber and door configuration around that.

Can a custom muffle furnace include atmosphere control or venting?

Atmosphere is one of the properties we can modify on a custom build. If your process produces fumes or needs a controlled environment rather than open room air, we design the venting or atmosphere control into the unit.

Do custom units carry the same certifications and warranty as standard models?

Yes. We can build to UL- and CSA-certified electrical standards when your facility or insurer requires it, and every custom muffle furnace carries the same one-year limited warranty on electronic parts as our standard line.

Can you match a specific temperature uniformity requirement across the chamber?

In most cases, yes. Our standard engineering target is roughly ±5°C, and we can add fan-assisted air circulation to tighten that to about ±2°C where your process calls for it. Tell us your target, and we’ll confirm what the chamber size and heating configuration can achieve.
