A custom build with us isn’t a standard unit with a bigger door. We modify size, chamber design, heating configuration, atmosphere, and features to match how you run. Need a specific hot zone length, a controlled inert atmosphere, a rotary tube for powder and granular material, or vacuum capability down to a target Torr level? We design around it.

The temperature ceiling is rarely the constraint. Our engineers work on muffle, tube, and vacuum platforms:

Precise temperature control is where a custom furnace earns its keep. Every unit ships with a 30-segment programmable PID controller that lets you set heating rates, dwell times, and cooling rates for repeatable results run after run. When your application demands tight uniformity, we can hold the chamber to roughly +/-5°C and add an air circulation fan to reach +/-2°C, where necessary.

Energy cost per cycle is a line item you feel. Our furnaces use ceramic fiber board lining and a double-shell design that keeps heat in the chamber and the outer shell cool, reducing energy waste and protecting people working near them. Safety is engineered in, not bolted on. A door interlock cuts power the moment the furnace opens, and an optional independent thermocouple with an over-temperature controller shuts down the elements before a runaway costs you a batch or a repair.

Downtime is the other number that hurts. Our MoSi2 heating elements last for years of normal operation, and when one needs replacing, it’s a quick swap that your own technicians can handle. For facilities that require it, we build to UL and CSA certified electrical standards so your unit clears inspection without a fight.

How long does a custom furnace take compared to a standard model?

Standard configurations are stocked for quick delivery. Custom builds take longer because they move through engineering, design approval, and fabrication first. Timelines depend on complexity, size, and features, so send us your specs, and we’ll scope a date based on our current build schedule.

Will a custom furnace need three-phase power, or can it run on single phase?

Most Sentro Tech models run on 208/220V single-phase. Larger, higher-power chambers, such as our 1200°C box models, require three-phase. Because a custom unit’s draw depends on chamber size and wattage, we confirm the electrical requirement during design so your facility’s supply is sorted before the furnace arrives.

Can you build to our lab or plant’s safety and compliance requirements?

Yes. We can specify UL- and CSA-certified electrical components when your site or insurer requires them, and safety features like the door interlock and an independent over-temperature controller are available to protect operators and products.

How long do the heating elements last, and what does replacement cost?

Under normal operating conditions, MoSi2 elements last for years, and some customers go a long stretch without a replacement. When they do wear out, the cost of the element depends on its size, and they’re designed for easy in-house replacement.

Do you support the furnace after it is installed?

We do. We advise on maintenance, supply replacement parts, and provide service throughout the furnace’s working life, so you’re not left to your own devices once the furnace is on your floor.
