MoSi2 (Molybdenum Disilicide) Heating Element Technical Data

Heating Element Grades

UT-1800: The maximum element temperature is 1800oC in air. Typical applications for this type of element include laboratory furnaces, sintering furnaces, testing equipment, industrial production furnaces and glass melting furnaces.

UT-1700: The maximum element temperature is 1700oC in air. Typical applications for this type of element include industrial furnaces for heat treatment and metal sintering.

Resistivity Dependence with Temperature

The resistivity of an Ultra T molybdenum disilicide heating element increases rapidly with temperature. This resistance relationship with temperature is shown in Figure 1. MoSi2 heating elements will not age during servicing; therefore, new and old heating elements can be used together.

Surface Power Load

The maximum surface load of the element is dependent on the furnace operating temperature and the configuration of the elements. Figure 2 shows the relationship between the maximum element surface load and the furnace temperature with free radiation of the MoSi2 heating elements.
